Perhaps I am just having one of those patiented "duh" moments, but I must ask. Where are the 'yum' repositories? and documentation similar to the apt4rpm docs? -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2

and documentation similar to the apt4rpm docs?
Much easier for the user to use. Just add it as an instalation source in Yast. If you have a bunch of rm files yourself (e.g. after using checkinstall, like I do for myself) just do `createrepo /usr/src/packages/RPMS` or wherever you put your rpm's and add that as a source. So as I see it, from somebody who wants to put a repository (or instalation source) online it is a lot easier. For the user it is also easier, because they can just ignore if it is an official YAST or a YUM (or whetever they are going to add in the future) repository. No need to read the apt pages. houghi -- Quote correct (NL) http://www.briachons.org/art/quote/ Zitiere richtig (DE) http://www.afaik.de/usenet/faq/zitieren Quote correctly (EN) http://www.netmeister.org/news/learn2quote.html
I just noticed an hour ago, if you open an FTP link in Konqueror, and
right click, under the actions menu you can choose add as YAST
repository.
Very nice.

Hi Patrick, Not sure what the problem is at your end, but here's what it looks like: http://www.cehartung.com/DL/add-yast-source.jpg At what point do you get the "blank pages?" - Carl

These web pages load fine here.
Please post a copy of your /etc/yum.conf
Thanks Patrick! ;-) Now I'm having a proper 'Twilight Zone' or 'deer-in-headlights' moment... I'm not configured here to use yum, so there's no /etc/yum.conf to post. And I'm not sure how this relates to the Konqueror shortcut we (I?) was discussing? Obviously, I must have missed something :-/ - Carl
doh! (slaps forehead) The subject says it all, doesn't it! Now I have to jump up to the start of the thread and see if my experience matches your's, Patrick! - Carl

I sincerely hope not, Patrick! I've got projects and work draping off my plate at every angle right now. Yum made the 'to-do' pile, but it's going to have to wait... :-/ regards, - Carl
