[opensuse] yast2 and DSL device configuration
Has anyone tried this recently? I'm trying it out for the first time, and it seems a little dodgy in 11.2rc2. For instance, I can configure a device for pppoe, even if the rp-pppoe package isn't on the DVD image. Later I tried configured a device to have no IP address, and ended up with a device called "_rename" ... /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (8.3°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You don't need rp-pppoe for that. There's also kernel-based pppoe (modules pppoe and pppox IIRC). alias char-major-144 pppox alias net-pf-24 pppoe You need only the pppd with that. Ah, thanks - I thought the rp-pppoe plugin module came with the rp-pppoe package. (Yast2 uses the plugin module). /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (6.9°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Assuming you do read german, I remebered "the" site: http://www.adsl4linux.de/ -dnh -- "Irrigation of the land with sewater desalinated by fusion power is ancient. It's called 'rain'." -- Michael McClary, in alt.fusion -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks, I had not yet come across that one. I've got the pppoe stuff working fine, but I wanted to get it set up/integrated with openSUSE the "proper" way. I want to use pppoe because it allows me to have ipv4 and ipv6 on the same link, and so far the only other issue I've hit is traffic control which apparently doesn't work or doesn't work very well with ppp devices. /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (7.0°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
