Re: [SLE] Upgrading XF86 from 3.3.5 to 4.0
Hi, Thanks! In fact, i had visited the SuSE Xserver ftp site and could find the .rpms for 3.3.6 and 4.0 for 6.3 and 6.4. But, i was not sure of what all .rpms to download and how to install, since installing the .rpm packages individually may cause some dependency problems. Or can i just upgrade the existing X server 3.3.5 on my 6.3 to 3.3.6 which i can get from SuSE 6.4 CDs. Is it possible to upgrade only the Xserver using the CD of a higher OS version like 6.4. Also, regarding the xf86config which you have mentioned, can i use SaX for configuring my Xserver. Raghav Nelson Marques wrote:
Well to start with, get the rpms at http://www.rpmfind.net or the binary tarballs and installer at ftp://ftp.xfree.org and install them, please be advised that your ONLY tool capable of configuring X is xf86config, wich is part of X itself, (unless you use Mandrake 7.1 final, in this case you can use DrakeX).
Buy a TNTx/GeForce chipset and NvidiaŽs DRI modules/drivers and start quaking :)

I wanted to upgrade my XF86 server from 3.3.5 to 3.3.6 or 4.0. Please advise what all .rpms should be taken to completely upgrade the XF86. I am running SuSE 6.3 with kernel version 2.2.13.
