[opensuse] no Crypt Files in YaST Partitioner (Leap 15.0)
I am trying to create an encrypted virtual disk in Leap 15.0, following the instructions from the Security Guide (https://goo.gl/8qSWgx): "To set up an encrypted virtual disk, launch YaST, switch to the System section, and start Partitioner. Switch to the Crypt Files section and press Add Crypt File." But my YaST Partitioner is not showing the "Crypt Files" section that used to appear under "Volume Manager". I only have the NFS and Btrfs sections. Sometimes there is a package that needs to be installed before certain sections show up in YaST, so I am asking first here, before reporting a bug. I think I installed all relevant packages, but does anyone have that section in their YaST Partitioner and do they know which package provides it? -- Carlos F Lange Gaúcho nas Pradarias https://www.google.com/+CarlosFLange -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I have a couple of encrypted filesystems on my system. One is an LV, the other is a file. (I don't have any virtual disks). I don't see anything in YaST Partitioner's indexing about encryption, but I notice that in all the tables there is a column labelled Enc[rypted] and that when I start to create a new LV I am offered the option of encrypting it. So perhaps encryption has become more mainstream and is incorporated in the normal workflow? Have you actually tried to achieve the result you want by following the existing workflow?

FWIW, I don't see anything in YaST and I don't see anything starting with 'yast-' when I search the software manager for the keyword 'encrypt'. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I do not want to encrypt an entire partition, nor a logical volume that contains partitions. Rather I want to create an encrypted image file within the home partition, that I can mount as a directory within my home. That is what "Crypt Files" does. It should be part of the existing workflow, as the manual indicates. -- Carlos F Lange Gaúcho nas Pradarias https://www.google.com/+CarlosFLange -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
