[opensuse] Software for registering customers.
Dear All, I have a minor private business with very limited number of customers having all kind of IT-support by me. In the near future their number can be easily higher and wonder which software I could use to have a kind of database on them?! The software should be easy-to-manage and should handle a limited number of data as e.g. name/address/ph. num- ber, but several aspects of their win* systems as well, like a con- tent manager system for problems/solutions/todos/etc. Before entering this data into Kontakt or preparing a template for OOorg, I decided to ask you, maybe there is a good tool to achieve all the above issues. Thank you, Pelibali -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Sounds like you want 2 different things. I don't think a CMS (pre-built template) would give you exactly what you were looking for. I would consider a web based Asset / Helpdesk tracking system (preferably opensource), and something seperate for your todo's. For a pure todo list, I like tracks. http://www.rousette.org.uk/projects/ They just released their first major version in a year or two. I have not had a chance to try the new version yet. You can use eGroupWare, www.egroupware.org it has several modules, you can use addressbook to store the customers data and the tracker to handle the tasks, and knowledgebase as a problem, solution database. Greetings -- Un saludo. Carlos Lorenzo Matés. clmates AT mundo-r.com

I second egroupware! You will never need another Groupware package. Customizable with etemplates, actively developed, fantastic code base, apache, php, mysql (or postgres, etc). It manages everything. eGroupWare svn (notice the trailing "." below) (all on one line) svn checkout http://svn.egroupware.org/egroupware/branches/1.4/aliases/default . Start egw with www.yourdomain.com/egroupware/setup Fix any errors and load any need php or pearl modules Run /setup "Header config" and confirm you documents root, etc.. -- David C.
