My wife got and Audible.com Otis music player for christmas, but she
does not have Windows on her machine for interface to it. Does anyone
know of drivers or interface for the Otix music player?

If you're lucky, it uses the standard USB 1.1 Storage protocol. If this is the case, you can plugin this device and mount it as an removeable drive. If you can mount it, you can move MP3 files to this device and play them.

OK, how would I find out what device it is to mount it? It uses hwi4857.sys in windows and is compatible with MultiMedialCard removable flash memory(MMC) according to the manual. Art On Sun, 2002-12-22 at 06:08, Cees van de Griend wrote:

Check the console messages when you plug the device in: Press ctrl-alt-F10 to see the console, and ctrl-F7 to return to the GUI. If it us USB-mass-storage compatible, then you should see a scsi device mentioned in the messages. If you have no other scsi devices, it will most likely be /dev/sda1 You'll find that a simple: mount /dev/sda1 [or whatever device] will mount it, then just typing mount will tell you where it's ended up mounted - likely /media/sda1 [or whatever ...] Dylan -- "Sweet moderation Heart of this nation Desert us not, we are Between the wars"
I get USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x5b4/0x6001) is not claimed by any active drivers when I connect the Otis to the USB port. What is the (vend/prod 0x5b4/0x6001) trying to tell me and how would I find a driver for this? Art On Sun, 2002-12-22 at 09:28, Dylan wrote:
