"Doctor, it hurts, please help me." Would he be able to help you with only that information? So please post the things missing from your mail: a) the version of SuSE Linux a) the version of MySQL you're using c) the actual error message. We'll need to see at least c) to help you, as working crystal balls are a very rare thing. Philipp

Can you login using mysql -p I think you've forgotten the password. Just a thought. M

If you quote, do it correctly, please. You quoted what I had quoted, not what I wrote. Philipp

Just asking if you could login to try to help you as I had had a similar problem with passing on passwords. If we took it from there then I'd be prepared to dig into my notes a little further. What are you trying to do? Oh, and BTW did u confuse posters? Cheers, Steve.

I'm trying nothing. I do not have problems with mysql. I'm not the one that asked for help. I had only asked Terry to be a bit more specific.
Oh, and BTW did u confuse posters?
No, if you reread my reply to Terry's mail you'll see that I didn't confuse posters but you obviously did. Philipp

Version of linux is SuSE 8.2, MySQL is 3.23.55-20. I do not get an error message. I only get FAILED on bootup (Fixed now) and the daily cronjob would fail with the following error: SCRIPT: output (stdout && stderr) follows /usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: NO)' However, I can login to MySQL as root using 'mysql --user=root -p'. Or, as stated earlier I can login using Knoda. Does this help? NeoFax
