Bradley, The wheel mice are pretty standard now and don't usually give any problems. Are you running XFree86 4.3? Even if you are still running 4.2 version, just drop down to init 3, out of your X display and run sax2 after you log in as root. Sax2 should configure and setup the mouse correctly for you. If you have done this, you might want to pass along the part of the XF86Config file in /etc/X11 that is your mouse configuration, so the list can take a look at what you have. I went into sax2, & added the mouse wheel function & saved. Now when I go into kde, the screen is dingy & hard to read. Kinda upsetting, as the mouse wheel was pretty much the last thing I had left before I was to the point of 'perfectly happy'. Aww well.... Anyone know how to get it back to the way it installed w/yast originally? I've tried switching to different resolutions, but it's all the same. Thanks, -Trey

Well, the thing is that you can't just go into sax2 and change the mouse without going thru the other settings too. I take that back, yes you can, but you'll probably get what you have now. Sax2 will try to make the best selections for everything it can with the information it has available, just like it did when you installed, but it's a good idea to check behind it. Just in case it makes a mess of something. ;o) You can also set these things using YaST2, but it's really better if you drop out of X when making changes to X, so go to init 3 to run sax2. So I have learned. Sax is not like yast at all. Another great learning experience though, so I don't mind. I have learned allot about linux 'the hard way'. Thanks for the thread BTW. Now I have a scroll mouse again, so it's a winner. :) -Trey

Sax saves the previous config as "/etc/X11/XF86Config.saxsave". I usually save working configs manually before starting sax, just in case. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
