Yes..well..those fuckers in the RIAA want to be able to hack into our computers and delete stuff...I thought that the Axis Powers were defeated in 1945..or did they just put their children into high positions in American Corps. to eventually take over? * Jon Pennington (cowboydren@yahoo.com) [011016 14:46]: ->Another Free Software project bites the dust, due to concerns of ->warranty and liability: -> -> http://www.heroinewarrior.com/bcast2000.php3 -> ->Not that I actually *liked* Broadcast, but it was the heir-appearant ->to replacing costly commercial software like SoundForge and ->MainActor, and I'm very sad to see it go. -> ->===== ->-- ->-=|JP|=- Hit me! - http://www.xanga.com/cowboydren/ ->Jon Pennington | Debian 2.3 -o) ->cowboydren @ yahoo . com | Auto Enthusiast /\\ ->Kansas City, MO, USA | ICQ UIN 69 67 29 31 _\_V -> ->__________________________________________________ ->Do You Yahoo!? ->Make a great connection at Yahoo! Just to continue this, if I may. That's why they call Hollywood, LA-LA LAND! You spend just a little time, there, and you too will lose sight of reality. But, then, lest we forget, a lot of our frustration is due to the fact that there are a lot of would-be movie stars sitting in our Congress and Senate, drooling over the money and promises of "stardom" from RIAA's idiot lobbyists. Talk about not being able to connect the dots!!! Tom P.S. I asked the folks at HeroineWarrior to provide some links to the actions levied against others that they mentioned. I don't think this aspect of the DMCA issue has been given enough attention. Poor Dmitry and Prof Felton, maybe, but what about the others? Should find out.
Assuming that heroinewarrior was a dot com rather than an org, I assume their intent was to eventually make money on the product. I doubt that concerns about warranty and liability tell the whole story given the number of other tools out there such as rippers, video editing tools, and burners. It may have been as much as a business decision of risk versus rewards and maybe the market just simply wasn't there. Following the link to Sourceforge, I wonder what the current developers are going to do as those folks have made an investment in time in building an open source application. Finally, I wonder and maybe someone can answer, is Broadcast2000 in the 7.3 release of SuSE Professional? Still waiting for it to arrive here... Clint Jon Pennington wrote:
