My apologies to the group -- I confused the Kdm login manager with Suse's graphical frontend to lilo. To change graphical lilo to text lilo, I notice /etc/lilo.conf has two items which I don't know the function of: append="BOOT_FILE=/boot/vmlinuz" and menu-scheme=Wg:kw:Wg:Wg Perhaps by removing these lines and then re-running lilo you will get the text-based version -- On Monday 02 April 2001 08:19, Colin Murphy wrote:

As soon as you see the graphical login manager, hit <esc>. You will then get the normal text-base manager. This is explained somewhere on the graphical screen -- :=)
Cll - That would be the graphical boot manager, which I also don't know the name of. No, I am quite happy with that - though I am happier with the text version, how do I get this by default. What are the differences between 'Linux'and 'Suse' boot prompts?
