Hello List,
- i received a spam mail :
"SUSE can Help your Business" : Spam e-mail received on MyYahoo mail account.
Spam is always in the eye of the beholder - on 15/2 I also received a mail "See how SUSE can help your business succeed". I think I get these every now and then, not sure what it was I signed up for and where, but I wouldn't call it spam.
Rule is simple:
Unwanted email, whether containing correct or incorrect information is spam. Unwanted means that you bomb people with that crap if the did not opt-in to a distribution. YMMV but the legal situation in many European countries I know is this. Therefore there is a lack of law-enforcement. Not so much a doubt about the nature of spam.
No, it is not so simple. A person (or a business) may attempt to contact some other person, without knowing in advance if the other side will accept the contact. The mail could be anything, a question, an offer... I only consider it spam when there is something else. It can be abusive, sent often, insistently. It may use faked addresses or other "lies". I do not consider spam a company that sends a mail with news every three months, say. If I don't want it, I prefer receiving onwanted email rather than unwanted paper mail: it can be filtered out. - -- Cheers Carlos E. R.
