I carefully set minicom's init string to null and then started minicom after one successful connection. What I receive immediately from the modem is 4 or 5 junk characters followed by ARRIER, i.e., "..:..ARRIER". It seems as if this is a string left over in the modem's memory which it sends immediately upon access. Sending atz clears the HS indicator and the modem responds OK. What do you think? Thanks. Tom
