This is regretably what appears to be happening over time. Too many sites are
supporting IE as a primary browser with the other's not supported 100%. Good
sites use standards, but the developers of many sites are getting lazy and writing
code for IEeeee (scream like your hair is on fire, because it is)and not doing a
good job of testing for compatibility with other browsers.
Isn't it great, the very people who complain the most about the cost of viri (viruses)
in their organizations are the same people who encourage the use of insecure
products which aid in the spread of those very same viruses.
I personally do not use IE, even in Windows, and refuse to support sites which
are not compatible with the browsers which I use (Opera and Mozilla).
OK, enough of my rant.

My daughter and I have both SuSe 7.3 with Opera 5 installed. We have both the same internet bank connection. I am able to do my banking business, my daughter can not make contact with the bank. Opera version 6 and Konquerer do not work with this connection for whatever reason. <snip>
Just so you are aware, Opera has long standing issues with javascript in web pages. It is very fast and I like Opera, but when I do my online banking, I use a late model mozilla (0.97+). You could try that if you get stuck with Opera.
The worst thing is that "everybody" expect you to use IE, and if your lucky then they'll support Netscape, and yes some even Opera. I had problems with my bank nothing happened in my Opera 6 TP3, just blank screen , and when I looked at the source it checked which browser I was using: if IE4 then if IE5 then if IE5.5 then if IE6 then if Netscape then if Opera5 then else scre** you
Mozilla didn't work, Konquerer didn't work, but Netscape 6 did (I had to install it just for that purpose only).
Is sad that if you don't use IE you'll be frozen out on the net... (98% of all our clients use IE so we support that only)
