Okay, here's the situation
The computer in the other room has its My Documents folder shared (//POMMYMOMMY/My Documents). It's running Windows XP. How do I connect to that folder on my Linux machine. Do I need to set up a network on the XP machine or what?
If you have the Samba Client installed and the two machines are in communication, you should be able to see My Documents if you issue the command
smbclient -NL POMMYMOMMY
Hmm. I wonder if someone could provide insight as to where I'm going wrong. Though not a huge deal, I'm still completely unable to connect my Win2K system with my laptop (10.0). My wife's Win2k system is "lilly" on workgroup, WORKGROUP. Here's what I got from the above: kai@yoda:~> smbclient -NL lilly Connection to lilly failed kai@yoda:~> smbclient -NL 192.168.0.100 timeout connecting to 192.168.0.100:445 timeout connecting to 192.168.0.100:139 Error connecting to 192.168.0.100 (Operation already in progress) Connection to 192.168.0.100 failed Oddly enough, I can connect to my laptop from the Win2K system. So the SMB client is working fine. In addition, I have no problem getting shares working on my NT-based network at work.
