Unable to start child print process. Check the command syntax: cupsdoprint -P 'deskjet5650' -J 'http://www.opensuse.org/' -H '/var/run/cups/cups.sock:631' -U 'sglasoe' -o ' copies=1 multiple-document-handling=separate-documents-collated-copies orientation-requested=3'
I don't know about KDE but it works for me on my openSUSE 10.2 out-of-the-box system (i.e. no KDE updates) to print a file via /opt/kde3/bin/cupsdoprint with exact your parameters (except that I use my queue name):
cupsdoprint -P 'lj1220ps' -J 'http://www.opensuse.org/' \ -H '/var/run/cups/cups.sock:631' -U 'sglasoe' \ -o ' copies=1 \ multiple-document-handling=separate-documents-collated-copies \ orientation-requested=3' \ /usr/share/YaST2/data/printer/testpg.ps
but for example
cat /usr/share/YaST2/data/printer/testpg.ps | cupsdoprint -P 'lj1220ps'
results
"This utility doesn't support printing from STDIN"

Thanks Johannes. I'll try this and keep troubleshooting if the problem persists. Haven't tried having it print to a file if it won't go direct to the printer. I can always print a single job after logging in but after that I can't predict how many I'll be able to do before this error occurs. I believe it started after the latest KDE update. What is cupsdoprint complaining about if the syntax works from the command line _with_ the addition of a file on the end?
