Read the manual for your mail client.
I've tried to point out the insanity of this "read the headers to unsubscribe" thing before, but got nowhere. This comment tempts me to try again.
asbestos gloves on.
Chris, you are now telling people that in order to get off this list, they have to read the manual to their email client, and learn about headers and how to get to see them?
No.
Do people want to do that? Do they have the time?
Give me a break. It's not like the instructions say 'To unsubscribe telnet to port 25 of lists.suse.com and forge an unsubscription using the address you subscribed with'.
Why is it so hard to change the tagline which so confuses newbies and the email-uninitiated to:
To unsubscribe see http://www.suse.com/us/business/mailinglists.html
It's not, it's that that is not very helpful. 99% of the subscribers can unsubscribe by emailing LISTNAME-unsubscribe@suse.com. For those people who are at sites whose admins are morons and change the sender domain without realizing what they are doing or people who's ISP (like attbi) is being taken over ever other week by another company, doing that won't work. They can't post to the list either. They can, however, email the address in list-unsubscribe header in any mail they get from the list and unsubscribe themselves. -- -ckm
