You are missing lp0. You should use mknod to recreate it. I've never done it, but I believe that is the command to make a character device. Check info mknod or man mknod.
Sorry I just miss lp0, but it exist in dev, so ls -al /dev/lp? /dev/lp0 /dev/lp1 .... The problem appear to be just with SuSE, in Madrake very thing is OK. j
