I have purchased CodeWeavers CrossOver Office, and have gotten Word, and Excel to run well. I got ACT! 2000 up and running, but there are a few bugaboos. If you want to be able to use ACT in Linux, email them at sales@codeweavers.com and ask them to add this to their list of desired products to support. From what they tell me, not many people have requested ACT!, so it isn't tops on their proprity list. Personally, if this would run well, a LOT of people would migrate to Linux. So, hassle the crap out of them (in a nice way, of course!) Harry G On Tuesday May 14 2002 04:43 pm, Tom Nielsen wrote:
Wine is supposed to allow you to run Windows programs such as Word or Excel or Photoshop or other Windows-based programs from within Linux. I've only got notepad and a couple other programs to work. Once you get it setup, you should be able to type "wine notepad.exe" and it will open notepad in Linux.
If anyone out there is an expert on Wine, let me know please. Right now I'm using W2k at the office (Linux at home) and would like to go full-time to Linux, but I need a couple essential programs from Windows...ACT!, Frontpage, and some Adobe products.

'Wine' often appears in this correspondence. What is it? Is it an abbreviation of something or is it a program called 'Wine'?
