Hi, Can anybody help me with the very basics on digital camera? How to transmit pictures via the USB-port?
In windoze I just connect the cable and a transmitting program within the XP is launched automatically. Is there a chance of something similarly in SuSE 8.0?
I don't use the automatic method, I like to see what is going on. This is what I do: 1. rchotplug start (this starts the usb service if you don't have it going) 2. plug in your camera and turn it on (you should hear the computer beep when it's found) 3. mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/camera (or wherever you want the mount) 4. look thru the mounted directory and copy your photos out. umount and shutdown usb. This can be automated, but it's the foolproof manual way. Others will probably mention the icon method in KDE. -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
