The following is what I sent to Continental. I'll probably get blown off like everyone else with a form letter response. However, I wasn't joking about not flying with them. Fred _______________ I just read an article quoting Mr. Hnaks. After reading it, a number of thoughts came to mind, the first being it's no wonder Continental is having financial problems! I have rarely heard any top executive from any company make stupid, ignorant, slanderous statements as he did (http://www.techweb.com/wire/story/TWB20030603S0012) in that article. Among other things, he called Linux users are a bunch of potheads when he said, "" Having one vendor throat to choke is helpful in crisis situations, Hanks said. An IT pro can't go to the CEO and say that a server is down, "and hopefully some guy in Amsterdam" will get to a fix when he gets back from the "dope house," he said."" Is Hanks so stupid to say that all Linux service comes from Amsterdam? Is everyone who lives there who uses Linux a "pothead?" Is he so stupid to think that IBM, who is a MUCH LARGER company than Continental, and is VERY, VERY much involved with Linux, doesn't provide 24x7 service, and is responsible for attacks on Microsoft servers?!! Is Hanks slandering the good name of SuSE, the premire Linux distributor, claiming that they attack Microsoft servers, write virus's, and are a bunch of "potheads?!!" ANY board of directors worth it's salt would fire ANY exec. who was and is that far out of touch with reality! I am incensed, and have sent copies of that article ALL OVER the Net. with comments. I don't attack Microsoft servers, write virus's, and VERY anti-drug!! I do, however, replace M$ on a LOT of servers and workstations. Mr. Hanks has given me additional cause to increase my efforts. Rest assured that there are MANY like me who will NOT fly with Continental just because he is so incredibly ignorant, stupid, and slanderous to those THOUSANDS of us who use Linux rather than anything Microsoft. There are many of us who want to know EXACTLY how many shares of Microsoft stock he owns, which I believe must be on public record, I am making an official request for that information. Sincerely, Fred A. Miller -- Planet Earth - a subsidiary of Microsoft®.
