I thought so. Many people are not aware that USB is not valid for this.
It's really the Universal Polling Bus. Indeed it does not work for this. For only the serial data, these are quite reasonable. But for timely notification of the state of serial control lines they are at the mercy of the USB protocol. This is not the intended usage.
