Under "Security software", the above chart says that SuSE 8.2 personal has "basic" security software, and professional has "full" security software. How am I to know what this means? The page on Security under SuSE 8.2 does not contain a software list, just a lecture on not using root for daily tasks, and sales pitches for SuSE firewall and YAST.
AIUI, Personal contains PersonalFirewall (closes all incoming ports), whereas Professional also contains SuSEfirewall2 (allows much more configuration for allowing/forwarding incoming ports). Professional also probably comes with things like intrusion detection tools, rootkit checkers, and other things that you'd only bother putting on a public facing server, or when you were really paranoid about security. As others have suggested, I would check the package list for 8.2, as it's probably going to be pretty similar to 9.0. -- David Smith Work Email: Dave.Smith@st.com STMicroelectronics Home Email: David.Smith@ds-electronics.co.uk Bristol, England GPG Key: 0xF13192F2
