avoid AGFA at all costs, that company sucks, their drivers are closed source, there are no linux ports,
It is unfortunate that they don't have Linux support, but even Epson's (a more Linux friendly company) drivers are closed source.
the company spams you once you give up personal information, they corrupt their database so you can't remove yourself from their email list,
I have been using a 1212u (the USB version of a 1212p) for over a year and have only gotten 3 emails from them about product deals.
Then let's talk about the product, the 1212p is a total piece of junk, it has problems in ever operating system, saying there are errors. I tried it in win95, win98, NT3.51, NT4, Vmware running win98 no go at all,
Don't know about Windows, but it works perfectly under SANE. BTW why are you using it under Win95 in VMware when SANE supports it? Setting up the "P" version under SANE is straight forward, the "U" version requires a patch to the 1212p driver.
but their servers are so slow they time out on the downloads
Never had that problem. -- The box saids Windows XP or better, so I installed Linux
