Check out ATI's website for the drivers and GLX pkgs...since you already have an 8500 series card. Please let the list know how this works out. I'm curious if they are better as far as install and configuration then nVidia's drivers.
I downloaded the package at http://mirror.ati.com/support/products/pc/radeon8500/linux/radeon8500linuxdr... There was no problem with instaling it and runing the config utility. Restarting X I got a screen that was slightly smaller than the one I got using sax2. However I didn't get the 3D to work. This seems to be a problem with some gl package missing from my system, not something wrong with the rpm frpm ATI. I fooled around with it for a while before giving up. I don't use 3D much anyway, dont't play games except crossfire http://crossfire.real-time.com/ The card is great for 2D, fast and crispdisplay, much better than my previous card, Matrox G450. Olle
