Ed, I somehow managed to get VMWare running. How do I point the system at the Win98 floppy image on my hard disk to install the Tools? Do I need to dd it to a floppy (or cp it, and if so what filesystem should the floppy be formated under?) Scott <p><p>>
Scott,
At www.xfree.org/4.0.1/Status2.html, the 3Dfx Voodoo is supported by tdfx driver, or Glide2x driver where glide is available. I have no idea what glide is.
tdfx is available at /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers as tdfx_drv.o, with docs at /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/doc/html/tdfx.4.html.
To load, look at /etc/X11/XF86Config, under Section "Device". It should be referenced on the Driver line as: Driver "tdfx". Also identifier line should be: Identifier "Device[0]". Make sure that Device[0] is referred to in Section "Screen" on a line like: Device "Device[0].
That should get the right driver started when X initiates.
Good Luck. VMWare is a marvelous solution to having WinX.
