a) SuExec is designed to protect running cgi. b) Therefore SuExec's DocRoute should be /usr/local/httpd/cgi-bin ?
So why is it /usr/local/httpd/htdocs on the SuSE compiled version of Apache? Have I misunderstood somewhere?
I think that suexec just checks that the user and group of the cgi script, matches the homedir that it's being called in. It dosn't neccessarily put the cgi script in a chrooted protected directory. It also is compiled in Suse to make sure that the cgi script is in /home/user/public_html, you have to recompile it if you want something different. Maybe cgiwrap is what you are looking for? It's an alternative.
