Apologies! It's me again, still having printing problems. I have been trying to find why none of my KDE applications now print correctly - it used to be just KWord which didn't, until I did a clean reinstall of 7.3 a few days ago. Screen fonts are OK, Print Preview is blank, and all fonts print as practically identical sans-serif. If I run KWord from a terminal and try to print or preview, I get the following error messages: QDIR :: read DIREntries: Cannot read the directory /etc/lp/printers QDIR :: read DIREntries: Cannot read the directory /etc/lp/member QDIR :: read DIREntries: Cannot read the directory /usr/spool/interface/lp /etc/ and /usr/ do not contain the other directories. I have looked at SuSE 7.1, upgraded to KDE 2.1.1, with KWord 1.0, (which prints perfectly) and these directories are missing from that version as well. Is this part of the KDE/QT problem mentioned by Chris Howells and others, or could it be a problem with my installation? I haven't seen this problem with all KDE applications mentioned before. In the last couple of days, I have reinstalled SuSE 7.3 three times to see if the problem goes away. It doesn't. I am using the default "Generic UNIX LPD print system". Switching to the "LPR (Standard BSD print system)" just gives me a very long and complex error message. Abiword 9.4.1 and Star Office 5.2 print correctly with no error messages. Any pointers will be very gratefully received. Many thanks Keith
