Hi all,
During the installation of 8.2 onto my vaio pgc-f801a, the firewire port was found and configured automatically. During the end-of-install reboot, when the firewire port was being opened by the hotplug service the laptop froze. It required a hard reset and safe boot to be able to get my laptop working, so I turned off firewire in YAST and haven't had any problems since.
Is this just a vaio problem, or is there a problem with the hotplug service in 8.2? If it's fixable, how would I? (I'd rather have a nice working port)
Not a great deal of help, perhaps, but certainly SuSE 8.2 seems to have set up my two (don't ask) firewire cards perfectly and without manual intervention. With 8.1 I had to meddle with a setting or two, but it was easy - so I don't think there is a generic problem with firewire hotplugging, my devices are working fine. Hope you can get the vaio sorted, HTH Fergus
Have Fun, Jim
