Dear all,
I want to know the meaning of the line : vga = 771 in the lilo.conf
I explain my problem :
I have a notebook (Compaq Armada 7400) and my boot screen (and all my tty are 640/480) and it's really boring me (X is ok in 1024/768). I also want want to keep the splash screen cause it's fun ... so what do I have the change ?
Kernel 2.4.x recognises VGA frame buffer devices. Text mode works with 640x480 (vga=769) and 800x600 (vga=771), so you get a console screen of 100x37. XFree86 4.0.2 works in framebuffer mode 800x600 or higher. Here's a complete list: # VESA framebuffer console @ 1024x768x64k # vga=791 # VESA framebuffer console @ 1024x768x32k # vga=790 # VESA framebuffer console @ 1024x768x256 # vga=773 # VESA framebuffer console @ 800x600x64k # vga=788 # VESA framebuffer console @ 800x600x32k # vga=787 # VESA framebuffer console @ 800x600x256 # vga=771 # VESA framebuffer console @ 640x480x64k # vga=785 # VESA framebuffer console @ 640x480x32k # vga=784 # VESA framebuffer console @ 640x480x256 # vga=769 M
