But, after this whole process, I still couldn't mount /dev/hdb2 (the crashed drive was hda1 - swap, hda2 - /)
Anything you can see that I did wrong? Any other thoughts on what I could try to see if there is any recoverable data on the disk? Or, with 5000 errors on the drive, is this just a case where the drive is FUBAR?
Have you tried to see if fdisk can recognize any partition or file system on the copied disk now? What does fdisk -l /dev/hdb say?
