Sorry, OSS config thing, I meant.
vmware-config.pl. If the kernel modules won't fit into your running kernel, it recompiles automatically. It would avoid many of these problems, IMHO.

Hello I have an ATI-Rage-Pro - 8meg video card. Sax2,Xfree86-4.1, installed fine. *but* I have installed Xfree86-4.10 - works fine, but when I try to install the Nvidia OpenGL Support For hardware accelerated OpenGL, rpm -Uhv NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-1251.suse70+xfree86-4.0.2.i386.rpm --nodeps --force rpm -Uhv NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-1251.suse70+xfree86-4.0.2.i386.rpm --force switch2nvidia_glx
They install but 3Ddiag says that -
Verifying 3D configuration based on XFree86 3 for 3D board "ATI Technologies Inc 3D Rage Pro 215GP (1002@4750)": Tests for package "glx": package ... failed! ================================================================ Package "glx" must be installed with YaST(2)! ================================================================
Tests for correct OpenGL libraries/GLX extensions:
Test for correct XFree86 version ... failed! ================================================================ You are using XFree86 4, but XFree86 3 is required. Run "SaX" to configure XFree86 3. ================================================================ *ridiculous* !! yea right go back to Xfree86-3.xx !!
I have suse sources - 2.4.4 cloned config-ed with /lib/modules/2.4.4 Also installed are /lib/modules/2.2.16 - and /lib/modules/2.4.2 - these were preveous kernels that I'm still able to boot.
The Nvidia - install added /lib/modules/2.2.16SMP for no sane reason that I can yet understand. I was running the 2.4.4 kernel while installing, and expected something to be done for modules2.4.4, but Nooooooooo - as if this stuff isn't hard enough to keep track of - No warning in the SuSE instructions for this install that the Nvidia version for suse70 , was for Xfree86-4.0 , when I'm in the ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/X/XFree86/XFree86-4.1.0-SuSE/ ftp directory . Goddamnit
Now you see what 3Ddiag says - what can I do to find some instructions - that can be trusted to implement this Nvidia-acceleration-drivers-set update.
Has anyone else had problems updating Xfree4.1 and Nvidia stuff ? What did you do to solve it, any suggestions welcome.
