Which version of OO are you using? I just started using 2.0 and the HTML output is much cleaner than it used to be.
I'm using 2.0. I suspect the problem might be that these are imported pages, and whatever created them in the first place has some peculiarities that OOo doesn't quite understand. It screws the layout, and then when I fix the layout, it generates stuff that is screwed on the browser. Ah well, I should probably use OOo from scratch or something, but I'm not sure I have time for that right now. I'll have to keep fixing by hand in vi until I have more time for a proper rebuild.
