so question 2.1, how do i output ver onto one (vs 2) line, 2.2, how do I start the (making of) script file (ie, whats equilivent to copy con {filename}), and of course, do I need to do anything special to run a script file as my .sig in zilla?
echo $ver > .signature echo $uptime >> .signature echo (current quote/contact info) >> .signature
Note only one '>' in the first line, two in the rest. It's not a typo.
This is part of the answer. I wanted to do something like this in Evolution once upon a time. The best I can come up with for joining more than one output on a line is `tr' (thanks to a firend of mine). You can do: cat /etc/issue | tr \\n " " and replace the newlines with spaces, including the last one. Then you can ">>" something else into the file and get the lines to join. As far as running a script, I don't think there's a way to get Mozilla to do that, but what I did is just make a small script and call it as often as I want with cron, dump the output to a file, and use that file as my sig. (Not that I'm doing that now because I'm still getting 8.2 up and running.) Regards, dk
