-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Forst off, I'm running Mozilla (1.4a) as my mail client. how do I import into it my system mail? it gets tiresome having to goto the command line, when i should be able to have all accounts visible under one application Second, the "dumb" one. I want to create a new .sig file, that will insert at the begining the following variables, $ver & $uptime. I've read the man pages, searched the web, and experimented. I know i need something like: echo $ver echo $uptime echo (current quote/contact info) so question 2.1, how do i output ver onto one (vs 2) line, 2.2, how do I start the (making of) script file (ie, whats equilivent to copy con {filename}), and of course, do I need to do anything special to run a script file as my .sig in zilla? and the last one, in KDE, how does one create themes? i wish to create a theme based on my favorite website (and pending the owners permission distribute it), but i'm unsure where to begin Joe - -- Wear a gun to someone else's house, you're saying, 'I'll defend this home as if it were my own.' I'm not sure what you mean by "import into it my system mail". Could you clarify?

This is part of the answer. I wanted to do something like this in Evolution once upon a time. The best I can come up with for joining more than one output on a line is `tr' (thanks to a firend of mine). You can do: cat /etc/issue | tr \\n " " and replace the newlines with spaces, including the last one. Then you can ">>" something else into the file and get the lines to join. As far as running a script, I don't think there's a way to get Mozilla to do that, but what I did is just make a small script and call it as often as I want with cron, dump the output to a file, and use that file as my sig. (Not that I'm doing that now because I'm still getting 8.2 up and running.) Regards, dk

from a command prompt, type mail, i get system messages there (forwarded to my account) I wish to view those messages w/ mozilla, instead of at the command line

Ok, between you and David, i found a workable solution. I couldn't run ver as a normal user, so I just quoted it's output, after all it's not gonna change very often. I then used the linux cookbook & man pages to figure out crontabs and created my first:
* * * * * echo "SuSE Linux 8.1 (i386) | Kernel 2.4.19-4GB / i686" > mozilla.sig; uptime >> mozilla.sig; echo "Wear a gun to someone else's house, you're saying, 'I'll defend this home as if it were my own.' Neil Smith, The Probability Broach" >> mozilla.sig; echo "nqs@cognisurf.com | Blog: http://tigger.tmcom.com/~josad/blogger.html"
mozilla.sig
As you can see below, it seems to work. note to anyone who may want to copy, remember to put all text in quotes.
