Well, I there seems to be everything as before. Though I haven't installed everything yet. I must say that at present it appears to be more polished than 8.0 and 8.1.
In 8.1 for some reason, Pysol was not there. Which I thought was a little strange. But I installed the version from 8.0 and the wife is happy :)
I guess it depends on what you want. If they have dropped some things I'm not aware of it yet. In fact there are a few new things that weren't present. I haven't check the compression ratios of the packages as of yet - perhaps that got a tighter ratio.
Point well taken. That would be cool if the compression ratio's were higher.
X-4.3 and KDE 3.1 are working very well AFAICT - no real issues, and all the previous fonts issue are not a problem. Gnome is more well rounded and functional also. I will be installing the GNUcash to see if it integrates into web/online banking as reported. So far it's looking very nice. The devs are doing a pretty good job and many of the issues that were present on the list with previous versions are address. Yast is also more will rounded and polished. Frankly, it appears to be going in the right direction IMHO.
Glad to hear that it is really nice! I look foreward to it especially if it is as good as you say it is. :-D -- Marshall "Nothing is impossible, We just do not have all the anwsers to make the impossible, possible."
