Hi,
From: Olle Viksten [mailto:olle@viksten.com] As of June 9 my apache has started to behave strange. I first noticed it when I was trying to access it locally. Apache was dead. tried to restart it and then checked status - running. I tried to connect once again and failed. Checked status again - dead.
Did you check the system log? What is in /var/log/messages?
I can restart apache but as soon as anyone tries to access it it dies.
The only error I found in the errorlog, besides astale pid, was: [warn] Apache does not support line-end comments. Consider using quotes around argument: "# crossover"
You can check your configuration with 'apachectl configtest' - it prints out the warning and the acording line number
I've tried to find this offending argument in various configuratin files, in /etc/httpd /etc/sysconfig...
Did you check for .htaccess files? They also contain configuration directives.
AFAIK I've made no changes to any configs before June 9
Does anyone have any idea what is going on.
What changes have been made before June 9? Did your apache binaries change since then? Is anything else behaving strangely on your system? In other words - have you been rooted? regards, Stefan
