Hi there,
Today I got my boxed set from SuSE and tried to install SuSE 9.2.
Well No Luck... Where 9.1 runs smoothly, now i can't get the kernel to boot up. My mainboard is an Asus P4P800 with 512 Mb, ICH5 SATA controller (with connected harddisk) and an IDE DVD-recorder. There is also an Adaptec 2904 with a zip-drive and a cd-rom present. So far, never had any problems.
When I start with the DVD, it just stops with the message "searching for infofile" and just hangs there. Ok. No problem, boot again and switch to console #3. After the lines: ata_piix.ko and aic7xxx.ko i'll get the "memory oops 1" and the machine hangs. This happens with every gruboption I can think, including the "Manual Installation".
Is the money I spend on this set down the drain or is there a way to get it working on my configuration?

HI all you guys, After one heavy night its finally running. I had to do a "Text mode install" to get the system up. When I finished everything booted up nicely and !WOW! was I surprised. Where YaST was sluggish in 9.1, that seems to be solved. ALso the KDE suite looks more responsive. Now the only two thing s I have to fix are the bootsplash and my pwc-based camera.... (Hello, Erik J. ;) ) Thanx for your answers. Regards, Peter
