I have a Logitech 2-button optical wheel mouse.
9.1 autodetects it as correct mouse, but the wheel does not work.
I looked at /etc/X11/XF86Config, and tinkered with protocol, ZaxisMapping, buttons, etc., but I cannot get the wheel to function.
Any ideas?

I had the same problem with my Logitech optical mouse with scroll wheel and usb connection. The solution for me was to go into YaST and change the mouse type from Logitech optical mouse (which it is) to Intelli/Wheel mouse (USB). After I made this change, the wheel worked correctly. The mouse section of my XF86Config file looks like: Section "InputDevice" Driver "mouse" Identifier "Mouse[1]" Option "ButtonNumber" "2" Option "Device" "/dev/mouse" Option "Name" "Autodetection" Option "Protocol" "imps/2" Option "Vendor" "Sysp" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" EndSection I believe that you will need the protocol "imps/2" for the wheel to work.
