Further, which package would update mkinitrd? Or is that not necessary?
Search software.opensuse.org/search for mkinitrd?
nimrodel:~ # rpm -q -f `which mkinitrd` mkinitrd-2.1-36.6
(10.3)
(mkinitrd-2.2-18 for factory)
Right. So I installed the one from factory (kernel-backport repo). No luck with sudo make install for either KOTD or kernel.org vanilla. So onto installing udev-120-12.1 (same repo, 1-click install) Reboot to make sure that udev is running. Try the 'make install' commands again. Still no luck. $ rpm -qa | grep udev udev-120-12.1 $ rpm -qa | grep mkinitrd mkinitrd-2.2-18.1 Go figure. I've got two other machines with 10.3 and they've presented no problem. This machine, and this experiment with RAID1 (as per the instructions on opensuse.org) ... not been good. Could be hardware, could be kernel, software... dunno, but its not been fun so far. Grrr.
