Ah, but what if the guy's hardware will not run SuSE 8?
"Guy?" Anyway, that's a nonsequitur, even if fixed from "SuSE 8" to "SuSE 10". There's nothing inherently more resource-consumptive about release 10 than 8. If anything, more optimization has been done and it can be expected to perform better. If one creates a 10.0 setup that is comparable to what was used in 8.0, performance can be expected to be at least as good.
