[S.u.S.E. Linux] Taper Seg Fault Under SuSE 5.2

Everytime I run Taper under SuSE 5.2, the thing seg faults right at the beginning of the backup. Thinking it was a problem the older version of Taper included with 5.2, I downloaded the newest stable version 6.8.4 and compiled it. Same problem. This happens with both the dynamic and static linked versions. I used Taper for months on OpenLinux 1.1 and 1.2 with no problem. Anyone have any clue as to what's going on here and why it dies under SuSE? TIA Donald E.
