I am reading the handbook right now.
Specifically, what I need to know is how to assign default applications for different file types based upon extension. Hopefully, that's in the handbook someplace.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think you might want to look in (KMenu -> )Systemsettings -> Advanced -> File Association(? not sure how it's called in English, but it's that icon with the 3 sheets)
Also it might be worth to look in dolphin settings under services.

It is about DVD setup, but it will work for any file type.
