AFAIK Dolphin is a part of KDE not Gnome, but something might have changed since the day I went to CLI only. I that case it would be to configure within KDE not Gnome. Yes, it is part of KDE, but non the less you can configure it from within the application itself ;) And the F1 shortcut should work in gnome to and bring you to the handbook. If you look for something specific you should probably rephrase your question ;) Regards Michael

Thanks Michael! And yes, Dolphin is part of the KDE, my bad:) I am reading the handbook right now. Specifically, what I need to know is how to assign default applications for different file types based upon extension. Hopefully, that's in the handbook someplace. I'm not 100% sure, but I think you might want to look in (KMenu -> )Systemsettings -> Advanced -> File Association(? not sure how it's called in English, but it's that icon with the 3 sheets) Also it might be worth to look in dolphin settings under services. Regards Michael

Sorry Rajko, doesn't work. Found it OK, set it all up, OK'd it , then tried the result. Setting doesn't stick. (Was trying to get my DVD player to open with a DVD viewer) Bob S -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Did you try to log out and back in? That should work without this, but KDE4 is work in progress and you should try to force it to reread configuration, like during booting. Second it could be due to recent DBUS fix that closed some security problems, but left applications that used previous behavior not working. If that is the case file bug report. (I'll check later is there any related bugs) -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
