I have an old K6-2/450 that will run Suse up to 8.2 but not version 9, as it won't run the 2.6 kernel. Of course, it won't run XP either, but who cares. Like Mr. Jessen, I am curious about why you say it won't run the 2.6 kernel. In a lab here at work I have been running SuSE 9.1 with 2.6 kernel on an old Micron PC with a 300 MHz Pentium II for quite a while with no trouble. So it isn't a K-6 but it is

I haven't run into any real trouble with 2.6 on an older computer until I tried to put SuSE 10.0 on PC at home with a 233 MHz Pentium. It was impossible. Just to get first screen of the installation took about 30 minutes and it was many minutes to go to the next so I gave up and scrapped the project. Right now I am running Solaris 10 on a different PC at home but at some point I would like to try again to get SuSE working on the old PC.
So, it is quite happy with Suse 8.2 and KDE 3 and gives the g'kids something to use if they get really bored. much better than overdosing on Cartoon Network
