i don't know whether this is equivalent to disable=no but the latter was what I used with vsftpd.
xinetd starts the service, port 21 is opened. Entering 'ftp localhost' produces ftp: connect: Connection refused
I also added vsftpd: 192.168.0. to /etc/hosts.allow for vsftpd. Are you sure you don't need to do something like that for pure.ftp? Kevin
