hello I'm trying to enable pureftp daemon under xinetd (suse8.2). I doesn't work if I have this stated in /etc/xinted.d/pure-ftp: # description: The ftpd server serves FTP connections. It uses normal, \ # unencrypted usernames and passwords for authentication. This ftpd is \ # the pure-ftpd. service ftp { server_args = -A -E socket_type = stream protocol = tcp wait = no user = root server = /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd # disable = yes } xinetd starts the service, port 21 is opened. Entering 'ftp localhost' produces ftp: connect: Connection refused If pure-ftp is ran as standalone server 'ftp localhost' works! Regards, himba -- This mail was Kmailed.

# disable = yes
i don't know whether this is equivalent to disable=no but the latter was what I used with vsftpd.
xinetd starts the service, port 21 is opened. Entering 'ftp localhost' produces ftp: connect: Connection refused
I also added vsftpd: 192.168.0. to /etc/hosts.allow for vsftpd. Are you sure you don't need to do something like that for pure.ftp? Kevin
hello I read alittle bit of documentation for pure-ftp and for configuration with xinted it doesnt mention any hosts.allow modifications.. Although I tried to add ftp: ALL: ALLOW and pure-ftp : ALL :ALLOW to /etc/hosts.allow but it doesn't make any difference ... Same error... Dne petek 23. maja 2003 23:12 je Kevin Donnelly napisal(a):
