In the gnome that came with Suse 7.3 there was a menu option to change the windomanager; I am unable to find it in suse 8.1. Where is it, or how can I change it?
In GNOME2, it's stored as a GConf value, so start the GConf editor (Applications -> System Tools -> Configuration Editor), and navigate to: /desktop/gnome/applications/window_manager And change the value of 'default' to whatever you want it to be (eg sawfish) This change will take effect the next time you log into GNOME. Or, if you want it to take effect immediately, run the following at a command line: killall -9 VALUE1 ; sleep 2s ; VALUE2 Where VALUE1 is what 'default' was set to originally, and VALUE2 is what you changed it to. -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 8.1) GNOME updates for SuSE: http://www.usr-local-bin.org
