Hi everyone, I have set my UMAX Astra 2200 scanner under Suse 6.3 yet I have one small step left. That is loading the scsi module automatically thru the modules.conf file. When I read the Scanner under Linux titled document in the support database of suse I thought ok, I solved it. However there is a small confusion. I am using a IDE-ATAPI CDWriter which is ide-scsi emulation. The kernel has already generic scsi support and finds my cd-writer csi0 : SCSI host adapter emulation for IDE ATAPI devices scsi : 1 host. Vendor: RICOH Model: CD-R/RW MP7060A Rev: 1.70 Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02 scsi : detected 1 SCSI generic total. however my umax scanner is not found. That is not a big problem because I want to access the scanner when the ened arises and if that module is installed when I want and removed when I am done I think that is better. part 5 of the document suggests using a pre-install followed by post-install line added to the modules.conf pre-install sg modprobe advansys (in my case that should be tmscsim) alias char-major-21 sg post-install sg echo "add single device 1 0 1 0" >/proc/scsi/scsi (in my case that would be 1 0 5 0) Here is the part I don't understand, if I have already the generic scsi support in the kernel and I am able to use the cdwriter what I understand is I have sg module already. when I tried the above xsane says no scanning device available. What am I missing any ideas thx -- Togan Muftuoglu toganm@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo!
