Even M$'s site says 98 runs on DOS:

This is what it says: Windows 95/98/Me Version of MS-DOS "When running with Windows 95/98/Me, MS-DOS based applications can check the operating system version by using Get MS-DOS Version Number (Interrupt 21h, Function 30h). For Windows 95/98/Me, this function returns 7 as the major version number and 0 as the minor version number. "If you need to know that the system is running MS-DOS version 7.0, you must use Interrupt 2Fh Function 4A33h. This function returns zero in the AX register for MS-DOS version 7.0 or higher" Sure are a lot of references to DOS for an OS that doesn't have DOS.

Nope. Those don't say that at all. All that says is that you can get it to emulate dos and cough up a version number so as to trick older programs that think they need dos,
Nothing but a blank screen.
Ya know, guys, this issue was settled back in 1998.
It was settled that Win98 was built on top of MS-DOS 7.1.
This is really starting to bore me.
Your selective reading is amazing. Try this one once more: C:\>ver /r Windows 98 [Version 4.10.2222] Revision A DOS is in HMA C:\> Can you not see what is loaded in the HMA?
