I ordered 7.2 about three weeks ago, I didn't get the email confirmation until a week after I had ordered it. My best advice is to try and a find a copy of it at a computer store that sells 7.2 off the shelf, but to get the upgrade version of it you will probably have to buy it through Suse.

Starting with SuSE 7.2, the upgrade is clearly marked with a "big red stamp" "UPDATE". It's a seperate package ( which I have never seen before :) and my local store had lots in store.
It shouldn't be too hard for stores to have both on shelf, and require to see f.ex. the beginners guide as proof of purchase on a previous version ( the updates don't include the beginners guide )

But have always found that
